The fundraising target for each project varies. Volunteers must reach this target before they go away. But fear not - your project coordinators will be there to support your fundraising efforts and every project last year reached above their target!
Where does the money go?
Normally all of the money goes directly to the in-country NGO. SVA is currently in a transition phase and two of our projects are partnered with Xchange (Indonesia and Kenya). This means that a percentage of what is fundraised goes towards costs for training and support provided by Xchange. This is a temporary partnership and our research team is currently in the process of finding new projects so that in the future our volunteers shall not have to fundraise for these costs.
- The rest of the fundraised money goes towards the project costs, such as basic food and accommodation. Some of the money fundraised goes towards the NGO/Charity who are looking after you in the respective countries.
- The money cannot be spent on Flights, Injections, Travel before or after the project, the running of SVA or visas. HOWEVER you can fundraise for these things separately as long as you do not use SVA’s name.
